About Us

Hokitika the 'Capital of Westland' has one of the oldest fire brigades in the country. The brigade has continually served the Hokitika Region since being formed on 27th of November 1865.

Hokitika has a proud history of successful participation at UFBA competitions, which has been carried on by the current members.

The Brigade has a roll of 26 with the amalgamation of its auxiliary brigade Kaniere in 2003, this coincided with the building of the new station on Stafford Street. Current Officer holders are CFO John (Harry) Collett, DCFO Greg Flaws, Secretary Jackie Breen, Treasurer Scott Alison.
