About Us

The main activites of the Brigade therefore are firefighting (both structural and vegetation fires), and attending Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVAs).

Geraldine is about 140km south of Christchurch and inland from Timaru, 35kms south. The population of the township and surrounding areas is approximately 4,000. The surrounding countryside is mostly taken up by dairying, cropping and livestock farms, with several high country properties to the west of the township. There are also significant areas of forestry.

Geraldine is on the main tourist route between Christchurch and Mt Cook, and as such sees a heavy volume of vehicle traffic.
